Good points to remeber for aspiring Web Designers

A great thing to remember:  While I was attending class over the weekend I learned some stuff :) I love Internet based training!!!!!! Anyway, the question was asked "why not use images for Nav buttons?" Sure they look nicer then text, alt text can render them effective for Search Engine Optimization (well, does not hurt them that much) but there are problems with them that professional web designers don't want and we should avoid this practice.
Problems with image based navigation:

1.Load time

2. New pages need an image to be designed that matches the existing buttons which increases down time when servicing pages.

3.Not suitable for dynamic websites, it is ineffective for small portable screens like cell phones and PDAs

4. Java code not standards compliant in HTML which affects SEO
